Serial #01834, 5mm, 20" barrel with an excellent bore. This is a neat air rifle with ties to the legendary movie star Clark Gable. The metal surfaces retain 98% original blue finish with a bit of wear on the rear section of the compression tube. The aluminum frame rates near excellent showing scattered specks of tarnishing here and there. The plain pistolgrip walnut buttstock and pump forend rate very good featuring a round left side cheekpiece with worn finish along most of the left side of the buttstock, a small 1/4" crack on the rear edge of the left side of the butt and a handful of scattered handling marks from the years. Rifle is sighted with a blade front sight and an aperture rear sight. Included with the arm is a framed picture of Clark Gable with a description of how the gun was acquired from his estate to a well-known gun dealer named Floyd Everhart of Dayton, OH, who then sold it to the current consigner. Also included is a notarized paper signed by Mr. Everhart confirming that he directly acquired the firearm from the estate of Clark Gable, as well as a copy of Mr. Gable's firearms taken from an issue of The Gun Report, which clearly shows this Sheridan rifle among the others.
